The FIQ and USBC specify the size and weight of bowling balls.

An adult male bowling ball weighs between 14 to 16 pounds (6.35 to 7.26 kg).

An adult female bowling ball weighs between 10 to 14 pounds (4.54 to 6.35 kg).

Bowling balls can weigh as little as 6 pounds (2.72 kg).

The heaviest bowling balls must not weigh more than 16 pounds (7.26 kg).

In the USA bowling is the number one participation sport. Japan has the largest bowling alley with an incredible 116 lanes.

History Of Bowling

A form of bowling is believed to have been played in Greece and Rome around 4,000 years ago.

In 1840 the first indoor bowling lanes appeared in New York City.

When bowling first started in the United States only nine pins were used.

Wood was used to make the first bowling balls.
