The Dachshund, whether it be standard or miniature, are typically small active dogs that are full of energy!

So how much do dachshunds weigh?

The Standard Dachshund can weigh 16 to 32 pounds (7 to 14 kg)

The Miniature Dachshund can weigh 11 pounds or less (4 kg)

Dachshunds are one of the smallest hounds, but they certainly have big personalities.

They’re usually very smart, feisty, and determined. Dachshunds tend to be very hard to housetrain and take a lot of time and patience.

These dogs are typically good watch dogs, their size may be small, but they have a large, deep bark, when they sense something strange.

Dachshunds have a lifespan of 12 to 15 years on average.

Did you know that many historians believe that the hot dog was first named after the Dachshund in 1895?
People suggest the name was shortened because most couldn’t spell “Dachshund” and created “hot dog”.
