USGA and R&A rules state that a golf ball must not weigh more than 1.62 ounces (45.93 grams).

The size of a golf ball is important as well and they must not be any smaller than 1.68 inches (42.7 mm).

A regulation golf ball has 336 dimples.

On hot days a golf ball will travel further. The reason is the air is at its least dense. It will also fly further in higher altitude.

There is more chance of you being struck by lightning than being able to make a hole in one twice.

Mike Austin made the longest golf drive in 1974 which was 470 meters!

The game of golf that we know today originated in Scotland, UK in 1457.

Some of the early golf balls were made from goose or chicken feathers or leather.

The “guttie” golf ball that we know today was first introduced in 1848.

Golf balls were very expensive years ago with one costing between $10 and $20.

Did you know that astronaut Alan Shepard played golf on the moon? He hit the first golf ball on the moon and it is estimated to have flown a mile before landing!
