The average weight of a great white shark is 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg).

The average female great white is 15 to 16 feet long (4.6 to 4.9 meters).

The average male great white is 11 to 13 feet long (3.4 to 3.9 meters).

You can tell how old a shark is by counting the number of rings on its vertebrae.

Sharks have a cartilage skeleton rather than bone and this makes them more flexible.

Sharks have a line of canals from their heads to their tails which enable them to feel vibrations occurring in the water.

Sharks date back to the time of the dinosaurs. They have been around for at least 64 million years.

Great whites are among the most dangerous sharks. Other dangerous sharks include the bull shark, the Mako shark, the Tiger shark and the Hammerhead shark.
