Lobster is one of the most popular kinds of seafood in the world because of the delicious taste of the meat contained in their claws, legs and tails.

Warm-water and cold-water lobsters are the main types of lobster that exist.

Lobster Claws

Most cold-water lobsters have front claws that contain a lot of meat, while warm water lobsters do not have claws, and most of their meat is found in their tails.

Lobsters that do have claws have a crusher claw and a pincer claw.

These crusher claws are strong enough to break a person’s finger!

Lobsters live for up to 100 years, so long as they can avoid being caught by fishermen.

These omnivores survive on a diet of various kinds of aquatic plant life, crabs, fish, snails, and other crustaceans.

When a lobster is cooked, it is red in color. However, lobsters are not red when they are alive.

Instead, the most common colored lobsters are yellow, green, and even blue!

~ Fun Fact ~
In the past, lobster was viewed as a cheap type of food and it was often referred to as ‘poor man’s chicken’. Lobster meat was so plentiful and so taken for granted, that it was often only eaten by poor people, slaves, prisoners, or it was used as feed for farm animals such as pigs!

Fast forward to today and in most places lobster is considered a delicacy with a hefty price tag.
