How much does a tennis ball weigh?

According to the International Tennis Federation, a tennis ball weighs 1.97 to 2.09 ounces (56 to 59.4 grams).

It is believed that tennis was first played in the 19th Century in Birmingham England. Since it first started in 1890 the rules have largely remained the same.

The oldest and one of the most popular tennis tournaments in the world is Wimbledon.

Tennis rackets were originally made from wood and the strings from animal guts. Over the years there have been major advances in making them stronger and lighter, usually from metal and titanium.

For major tennis events, tennis balls will be colored yellow. For regulation play, tennis balls must conform to specific sizes and bounce criteria.

The only permitted colors are yellow and white. Normally for professional play, it is a fluorescent yellow that is used, this has been in use since 1972 to make the balls more visible for those watching on tv.
